Overview

Knowledge Services is looking to add an Information Security Engineer local to Indianapolis to the team.

 

The information security engineer will work with our information security team, reporting to the manager of information security. This individual will design and implement security controls for our computer systems. Ideal candidates will install, configure, and maintain security software and document any security issues or breaches found. They will make recommended modifications to established policies, procedures, and configurations to improve our corporate security posture and will stay abreast of threat trends and security best practices. This individual will work proactively to establish compliance with security controls and design control implementation guidance for security controls identified in the System Security Plan. In the event of a breach, the Information Security Engineer will coordinate team communication to effectively identify the extent of the breach, participate in ongoing risk mitigation steps, and participate in communication efforts associated with the issue.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, document, and train others on the security systems that protect computer systems and data.
  • Analytically assess an information security situation and make recommendations for appropriate response.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security team to automate processes where possible.
  • Prioritize security strategies to best protect strategically essential data.
  • Assess security vulnerabilities and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide Guidance to Information Security Analysts.
  • Analyze reports generated by the threat monitoring systems and direct corrective action where required.
  • Run tests in an attempt to raise unknown vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent Communication Skills and ability to drive breach assessment and improvement actions.
  • Maintenance of information security policies, procedures, and SSPs.
  • Research and recommend new information security technologies as appropriate.
  • Participate in the preparation of new information security training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor computer networks for security issues and recommend improvements as required.
  • Coordinate the investigation of security breaches and other cyber security incidents, including:
    • Documentation of the incident
    • Damage assessment
    • Communication plan
    • Identification and execution of corrective measures
  • Work with the security team to perform proactive tests to identify security vulnerabilities in the environment.
  • Work with the Development and IT teams to secure new products and infrastructure.
  • Research security enhancements and make recommendations to management.
  • Functional enforcement and subject matter expertise for security systems.
  • Resolve detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high security posture.
  • Stay current on security trends, news, and best practices.
  • Help colleagues install, configure, and maintain security software and understand information security management.
  • Review, approve, and monitor changes in the environment.

  • ISC2 CCSP - Certified Cloud Security Professional
  • GIAC GCED - GIAC Certified Enterprise Defender
  • GIAC GCIH - GIAC Certified Incident Handler
  • GIAC GCIA - GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals

Optional certifications:

  • EC Council CCSE - Certified Cloud Security Engineer
  • ISC2 ISSAP - Information Systems Security Architecture Professional
