Overview

Knowledge Services, a leading multidisciplinary organization in the software, professional services, and cyber security industry, is seeking an experienced Proposal Writer. The Proposal Writer will join our Proposal Team and will have responsibility for researching and writing proposal content primarily for State government solicitations.

We are seeking someone with the understanding of proposal best practices to write responses to government solicitations. Ideally the writer will have an understanding of proposal tools that assist in locating content from a database and applying it to a question along with determining what content can be better illustrated in a graphic format.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience writing persuasive content based on interviews with SMEs and is able to confirm that the SME has fully addressed the requirements during the interview process. The writer will be responsible for taking the information from the interview and writing the required response.

The Proposal Writer will collaborate with the Proposal Team, Marketing Teams, as well as other SMEs, including our Executive Team, Technical Teams, and Delivery Teams, to develop content in a unified voice that showcases and effectively positions Knowledge Services.

 

The ideal candidate needs to be highly motivated and organized and must be able to adhere to strict deadlines. This work is done across multiple stakeholders, and potentially multiple lines of services at once.

 

The Proposal Team strives for excellence in service to our internal and external audiences. As a member of this team, the Proposal Writer will participate in the development of annotated outlines, win theme strategy sessions, and lead Red Team Reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical narratives that address the response plan, while incorporating win-themes and differentiators
  • Tailor proposal content to address client pain points and showcase the company's value proposition
  • Analyze Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements, preparing compliance matrices, schedules, and outlines
  • Research and write content that responds to government solicitations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather essential information and insights
  • Develop graphic concepts to support proposal content
  • Lead Pink Team and Red Team meetings

Qualifications

  • Experience providing quality, well organized proposal content
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and proposal database tools such as Responsive or Loopio
  • Detail oriented in writing and process management 
  • Ability to write for various audiences
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Ability to facilitate and manage input from multiple stakeholders  
  • Aptitude to understand complex material 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and topics at a time 
  • Deadline oriented 
  • Proficient researcher 
  • Works well in a team environment 
  • Desire to join a passionate Team with a purpose to serve those who serve others 

Experience 

  • Minimum of 3 years proposal writing experience
  • Preferred experience in writing proposals in response to government solicitations
  • Preferred experience in Shipley Methodology or APMP best practices
  • Experience writing on complex topics 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media, English, business, or related field
