Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead one or two Scrum teams building modern SaaS products on the Microsoft cloud platform.

  • Our engineering organization delivers scalable, secure enterprise software using C#, .NET Core, and Azure services with a strong emphasis on automation, DevOps, and operational excellence.
  • This role combines people leadership, technical guidance, and delivery ownership.
  • You will support a team of talented engineers while ensuring reliable delivery of high-quality software in a collaborative, agile environment.

Responsibilities

Software Engineering Manager Responsibilities include:

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop 10–12 software engineers across one or two cross-functional Scrum teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, high-performance engineering culture.
  • Conduct performance reviews, career development planning, coaching, and hiring.
  • Support engineers in growing their technical and leadership capabilities.

Agile Delivery & Execution

  • Partner with Product Owners and Architects to translate business needs into technical roadmaps and sprint plans.
  • Oversee and improve agile processes, metrics, and ceremonies.
  • Ensure consistent and reliable delivery of products with a focus on delivering value that aligns with customer and business needs.

Technical Oversight & Architecture

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight for systems built using:
    • C# / .NET Core
    • Azure App Services and Azure Functions
    • Azure SQL
  • Partner with architects and senior engineers to evolve platform architecture and technical standards
  • Promote engineering best practices including:
    • Automated testing
    • Secure coding
    • Code reviews
    • Performance optimization
    • Observability and monitoring
    • Infrastructure as Code
    • Continuous Integration and Deployment

Product & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with product owners, designers, and stakeholders to ensure end-to-end product success.
  • Align engineering execution with business priorities, timelines, and budgets.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and technical direction to senior leadership.

Operational Excellence

  • Own production stability, monitoring, and incident response for engineering-owned solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reliability, cost efficiency, and scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, privacy, and governance requirements.

 

Qualifications

Software Engineering Manager Required Qualifications:

  • Proven engineering leadership experience, including at least 5+ years leading software engineering teams and mentoring engineers in a fast-paced environment.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, providing technical credibility to guide engineering decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing engineering teams, including coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Experience leading agile development teams and driving predictable delivery of high-quality enterprise software.
  • Strong ability to align engineering efforts with business priorities, balancing product delivery, technical quality, and long-term platform health.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, and business stakeholders to define priorities and deliver customer value.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience scaling engineering teams and SaaS platforms in multi-tenant or B2B environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native development and delivery practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and cloud platforms such as Azure.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled applications or services, including integrating AI capabilities into modern software platforms.
  • Experience operating within regulated or compliance-sensitive environments (GovRAMP, FedRAMP, SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).
  • Proven ability to balance innovation, technical debt management, and platform reliability while delivering new features.
